The Story Behind ‘Street Eats’n’Beats’ Festival
After returning to the UK from her years as an ex-pat in Spain, Jules Pinkney set out to create a festival that reflected her passion for house music and a vision for an inclusive, community-driven event.
Even though Jules works as a freelancer across the UK on the major festivals ‘Street Eats’n’Beats’ is not a large corporate festival, it is a small grassroots independent one, for the community of her home town and one that needs your support.
The first year operated on zero budget and minimal infrastructure, supported only by a donation bucket for those who hoped to see it return. Eleven years on, the festival now welcomes almost 4,000 attendees and has become a recognised annual event in the South East having won 4 awards over the last few years.
At Street Eats’n’Beats we focus strongly on youth opportunity within the dance music sector, offering taster DJ sessions, industry guidance, and dedicated performance slots for under-18 DJs. 2026 will see us prioritise educating younger attendees on how to navigate mainstream festivals safely, ensuring they gain both skills and confidence as they enter wider music culture.
Ther event is designed for all ages, providing a safe and engaging festival experience that families can enjoy together. As a grassroots organisation, we actively embrace partnerships and new opportunities that support our growth, enhance community impact, and strengthen the future of the festival.
