The Black Shuck Festival celebrates the mythologies around the famous East Anglian Black Shuck in the demon hound's natural home of Bungay. The 3-day festival, held on the first weekend in August each year, is a mixed arts festival with art, music, drama, storytelling, film and theatre which aims to not only showcase the wealth of local creative talent but to engage the local community with their mythological and historic heritage - and to encourage them to express their own creativity as part of the Festival.
We are a new Festival - 2024 was the third year of running - and have found that the theme of Black Shuck and associated stories, myths and legends, despite Shuck's evil intentions, really inspire people and contributes to their feelings of wellbeing.
The Black Shuck Festival is run by the 1577 Committee (so named after the year the famous Black Dog of Bungay wreaked such havoc in the town), who between them have, apart from a great deal of enthusiasm, what it takes to run the Festival. We aim to be as inclusive as we can be and always welcome offers of help and new ideas.

The 9th annual INK Live Arts Festival (24-27 Apr 2025) in rural Suffolk featured over 70 short new plays for stage and radio, and poetry, stand-up comedy, music, short films.
We aim to improve community pride, increased diversity, inspiration, and footfall. We also aim to provide great opportunities for writers and theatre practitioners UK wide.
The festival engulfs Halesworth with live, original, and diverse events in different exciting venues such as a garage and a museum. There are huge opportunities to take part for volunteers and the programme is designed to appeal to all ages at a reasonable cost—free to some.
Since INK's inception, demand has continued to increase and the festival has kept growing apace. This is the local theatre and town’s biggest event and is unique to the area. New short play submissions drew from 15 in 2015 to over 2000 in 2022. Careers have been launched and a creative community arisen. Everyone wants to return. The original plays that are put on are accessible, under 30 minutes long, and while some take on challenging topics, audiences embrace them. The town of Halesworth is increasingly involved, with many businesses offering free venues and services. Audiences and the commercial footfall is growing. We know, from previous youth targeted projects, that there is an appreciation and appetite for more, especially from students who have never experienced live theatre.

Kevin Pearce hails from Colchester. Three years ago, Kevin suffered a heart attack (on a golf course). As well as having to redress some lifestyle habits, his rehabilitation involved writing and recording the Sun Cutter project. It is an album of beautiful driving, harmony-drenched indie-soul and folk-rock that looks to the light for reflection. Co-produced with Dean Honer (The Moonlandingz, Eccentronic Research Council), it is at time reminiscent of some purveyors of classic songwriting, such as Tim Buckley, John Lennon, Cat Stevens, albeit with a modern do over. He was also the vocalist and guitarist on I Monster’s “Daydream in Blue”, recently resurrected to advertise Magnum ice creams on the telly.
At KI Sound & Light, we have completed a wide range of full event productions ranging from conferences, charity events, awards shows and full scale festivals. We have proven time and time again that we are able to take a client’s initial brief to a full scale production.
With a wide range of power, rigging, staging, video, lighting, sound and effects in our rental stock, we have everything you need in one place. We have worked all over the UK as well as closer to home in and around Essex, Kent, Suffolk and London. We continue to provide our customers with the highest quality products, knowledge and specialist staff to ensure your event runs smoothly from start to finish.
Our high quality outdoor canopy stages are set up by our highly knowledgeable staff, and can be combined with lighting, effects and sound to make a full set up. Our production crew have worked on many events over the years, and have the knowledge and skills needed.

Mel & Marcel Alt Pop Duo
During the pandemic Mel, a former songwriter and West End performer in The Rocky Horror Show, started writing comedy sketches and songs to help cheer up lock down spirits with the aid of her musician and producer husband Marcel and the internet. After Covid, Mel and Marcel continued their journey with live gigs and films that illustrate their songs, producing and recording from their home a former Georgian pub in Manningtree Essex.
“Our quirky songs are all about life, waiting at stations looking for missing trains, coping with noisy families, celebrating Essex girls, going to funerals, anxiety. These songs are comments on life for all ages and reflect our experience of being parents and having had a life lived on the London art scene. As we get older and have more space, we are loving playing live and the reaction from the crowd as they smile in recognition of our stories being everyone’s stories.”
We are looking forward to future projects and a cameo appearance by Mel & Marcel in a new feature film Love Without Walls by director Jane Gull soon to be released.

NIA is an artist from Suffolk UK. The 22 year old grew up listening to an eclectic mix of musical genres that have a strong influence on a varied and unique sound.
She began songwriting at the age of 17 just before leaving school and has written and co-produces all of her singles to date. Her thus released songs range from rap and grime, pop and R&B. To date her music has been streamed over 160,000 times.
Formed in 2017, Nomad is a group of three musicians with a wide range of influences. Our first album, called “Turning Point”, released in 2021, contained exclusively original material and was built on more groove based jazz, in keeping with the origins of the band. However, we were already exploring other directions. As a result, the second album, released in 2025 and titled "See The World", again contains original compositions, but these are now a much truer reflection of our love of music from around the world and contemporary jazz from America and Europe and establishes the band's new approach.
Norfolk & Norwich Festival is made up of one of the country’s longest running arts festivals (having started in 1772) and a region-wide programme of creative engagement that particularly focuses on improving the cultural offer for children and young people.

North Walsham Children's Day (NWCD) was founded in 2017 by our Chairman Rob Murphy, NWCD's mission is to offer an inexpensive afternoon of fun for all families irrelevant of income.
Taking over the church yard and market place, the main event day now offers an extensive display by the emergency services, live action shows, hands on experiences, local craft stalls, live music and a diverse food offering.
The invaluable support of Local Businesses, Organisations and individuals have allowed us to subsidise a range of activities and events, with many being free of charge.
As a not-for-profit organisation any funds not used running or expanding the event have been given to local charities, supporting children's activities throughout the year.
Recent charities have included North Walsham Play, 1st NW Scout Group and our hosts St Nicholas Church.
We provide the tools so festivals and venues can sell their own tickets, manage their own data and accreditation with cash flow coming direct to them.
The event owner becomes the ticket seller rather than using a 3rd party; which reduces cost, increases cash flow and provides a direct relationship with customers.
Our mission is to empower independent event organisers and venues with the tools and support needed to take ownership over their ticketing. We understand that each event is unique and carries it's own set of challenges and opportunities, and we're committed to offering a low cost solution where clients can access their cashflow straight away.
There is only a cost if tickets are sold and with no upfront setup costs.
It is well suited to Independent small/medium size venues (up to 1500 capacity) and events up to 5000 capacity.

Parravani’s ice cream is carefully made to a family recipe handed down from generation to generation, to traditional batch methods, and using only the best natural ingredients, many sourced locally, but with some only available imported from Italy; authenticity is everything.
Founded in 1898, we are the oldest independent producer of ice cream in East Anglia and indeed, the longest-established in England. It all started with Giuseppe Parravani, who began as a small ice cream seller in the busy city streets of Norwich.
To this day, the family have maintained the traditional recipes handed down through the generations, and we pride ourselves on making high quality, delicious ice cream, from locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. We have come a long way from Giuseppe’s original vision, but that same vision still encapsulates everything we do.
We have three ice cream vans for hire and a trike for those special occasions such as weddings, birthdays and general events.
We provide Power, Lighting and Audio Hire and Production facilities.

The Suffolk-based SHAKE Festival CIC. which began life at The Cut in Halesworth in May 2019, has produced three multi-dimensional weekend festivals of Shakespeare to date, welcoming theatre industry leaders such as Lucy Bailey, Geraldine James, Harriet Walter, Janet Suzman, Ed Hall, Steve Unwin, Stanley Wells, and Lucy Bailey, alongside local performers and young people from Alde Valley Academy, Thomas Mills and Woodbridge School.
In the past few years, SHAKE has been developing a new definition of ‘Festival' - to now encompass one-off readings and theatrical performances of all kinds.
Since 2020 SHAKE has performed fully rehearsed live-streamed readings of The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Winter’s Tale, and The Sonnets by Shakespeare. IRL it has produced rehearsed readings of The Scapegoat by Lucy Hughes-Hallett, The Horse in The Furrow by George Ewart Evans, and Akenfield by Ronald Blythe, in London, Saxmundham, Charsfield and Theberton respectively.
Most of 2024 was spent in R&D for a new play of Akenfield by Glenn Wilhide, adapted from Blythe’s masterpiece.
In 2025 SHAKE performed nine sell-out previews of the fabulous new play of Akenfield, in five venues across Suffolk, which garnered five-star reviews in EADT and The Ipswich Star.
The cast of local performers were Dean Sore, Beth Keys-Holloway, James Crawley, Helen Shand, Andrew Stannard, Quinn Richards, Cathy Churchill and Steve Peck. On stage alongside them were Suffolk musicians, Finn Collinson and Rowan Collinson.
The set was created by Laurence Edwards, the costumes by Constance Mackenzie, the lighting by Paul Cook and choreography by Caroline Mummery. Production Management was by LX Pro, Bawdsey. The show was directed by SHAKE’s artistic director Jenny Hall, and produced by Jenny Hall with Liz Cook.

Strawberry Fair has grown to be the most popular free, entirely volunteer run, one day music & arts event in Cambridge (and probably across Europe!), attracting over 30,000 visitors throughout the day. On the first Saturday of June and now passed our 40th year, residents and visitors have gathered together on Midsummer Common to celebrate their vibrant and creative city.
The Fair is run entirely by volunteers (affectionately known as Strawberry Fairies) who give their energy, imagination and vision to present to their friends and neighbours in Cambridge a great free day out.
Established in 2015, this delightful boutique electronic dance music festival has become a firm favourite amongst the locals of Essex and beyond.
Street Eats N Beats (SEB) emerged not only to fill a void in the Street food scene but also to cater to the local community’s passion for electric dance house music.
Recognising the desire of families and young people wanting to share this experience, our intimate event was crafted to unite generations.
The essence of this festival lies in its unwavering commitment to showcasing exceptional DJ’s, delectable street food and the finest in pop-up bars.
We are dedicated and proud to also be supporting emerging local young talent through paid work placements, volunteer opportunities and the chance to perform on stage.
We remain focused on offering a safe space for families to enjoy the event whilst educating the youth on how to be safe at larger festivals.

Like a phoenix, THE BACKDRAFTS have risen from the ashes to become the hardest working rock band in East Anglia.
Comprising of former members of Norfolk Fire Service they continue to blaze a trail playing a blend of classic rock with an abundance of energy and a level of musicianship and vocal skill that leaves audiences wanting more.
Higgy fronts this live act, his warm voice with a sprinkling of Springsteen. Stuart Gibson is on guitar, with his fingers of fury, face melting riffs and stage antics reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen. Rob Forder provides beautiful thunderous bass lines along with the voice of a homesick angel. Drummer Tommy Toggle provides the timing, technique and drive guaranteed to get your toes tapping and hands clapping.

This Circus Life was formed by former advertising man Charlie Mear who has been described as a man who had it
all, lost it all, and now doesn’t want it back! He started writing songs in 2019 as a way to make sense of a seven-year period of personal tragedies and often bizarre experiences. Now with life back on track the band has gone from strength to strength and already have a growing following picked up by regularly playing the east coast festival circuit.
They won the 2021 Ely Folk Festival competition and were runners up in both the 2023 and 2024 Cambridge Band competition. Making comparisons with other well known bands is always tricky, but listeners often reference Turin Brakes, Del Amitri, Squeeze, REM and Crowded House. Indeed, one reviewer described their song ‘Falling star’ as the best Crowded House song not written by Neil Finn! But forget comparisons. The best way to get to know This Circus Life is simply to immerse yourself in their music.
